Q: What equipment should I bring on a dive vacation?
问：潜水旅游需要携带哪些装备？

A: All the equipment appropriate for where you’re diving, except your cylinder and weights. You normally rent those at your destination. If you don’t own all your own gear yet, most dive resorts have a rental stock (but confirm this prior to your trip).
答：所有适合该潜水环境的装备都要携带，气瓶和配重系统除外。气瓶和配重系统一般都是到了目的地才租用。如果您还没有自己的装备，大部分的潜水渡假村都有出租装备（但行前要先确认这点）。Q: Are there any restrictions on what dive gear I can take with me?

A: A dive knife/cutting tool must be in your checked baggage, not your carry on. Some regions prohibit dive knives entirely or over a certain size, and many countries prohibit spear fishing equipment. Although you wouldn’t typically carry a scuba cylinder when traveling by air, if you do for some reason, it must be depressurized with the valve removed.

Q: What about excess baggage?

A: With some airlines charging for bags that weigh more than 22kg/50 lbs to most destinations, you may have to pay an added fee for your dive bag (up to 31kg/70 lbs) if you have many accessories(such as a large under water photo system).For typical equipment needed for warm water destinations , it’s not hard to stay with in the 22kg/50 lb limit. An extra piece of baggage costs extra irrespective of weight. Remember that you can distribute the weight of your gear into more than one bag to stay within limits, and then move everything to your gear bag at your destination. Weight allowances and costs vary depending upon carrier and destination.

A: Your certification card, logbook, sunscreen, passport (for international travel) or photo ID, Seasickness medications (if you need them), and bathing suit. Carry prescription drugs (with a copy of the prescription), contact lens cleaners, etc. with you in case of baggage delay. For some destinations a voltage adapter may be useful.

One or two places, particularly in the Middle East, don’t allow you to get a permit on short notice. If you’re not sure about permit requirements, check with your dive travel specialist.
